Description
The Pololu 30:1 Micro Metal Gearmotor HP 6V (Item #1093) is a miniature brushed DC gearmotor from the Micro Metal Gearmotor family, featuring a high-power 6V motor with precious metal brushes and a 29.86:1 reduction gearbox with brass gear plates. The compact 10×12 mm gearbox cross-section and 9 mm long, 3 mm diameter D-shaped output shaft make it a direct fit for Pololu’s extensive wheel and bracket ecosystem.
Key Specifications:
- Rated Voltage: 6V DC
- Gear Ratio: 29.86:1 (exact)
- No-Load Speed: 1000 RPM @ 100 mA
- Extrapolated Stall Torque: 0.57 kg·cm (7.9 oz·in)
- Extrapolated Stall Current: 1.6 A
- Gearbox Cross-Section: 10×12 mm
- Output Shaft: 3 mm diameter, D-shaped, 9 mm long
- Brush Type: Precious metal
- Encoder: Not included (encoder-compatible variants available separately)
- RoHS 3 compliant
Features:
- Nitride-hardened martensitic stainless steel gears for durability
- Brass gearbox plates on all stages
- Compact N20/NA4S form factor, compatible with many third-party brackets and wheels
- Available with optional integrated 12 CPR quadrature encoders (back or side connector) or extended motor shaft for custom encoder mounting
Recommended Motor Controllers: Compatible with the Pololu MP6550 Single Brushed DC Motor Driver and the Motoron M1x550, M2x550, M3S550, and M3H550 chainable serial motor controllers.
Important Notes: Stalling or overloading the gearbox can cause immediate or accelerated wear. Maximum recommended instantaneous torque is 2 kg·cm (25 oz·in). For typical brushed DC motor operation, sustained current should be kept at or below 25% of the stall current rating. Higher voltages beyond the 6V nominal rating may reduce motor lifespan.
Common Applications:
- Differential drive and line-following robots
- Compact automation mechanisms
- Embedded robotics platforms (e.g. Zumo, 3pi-compatible designs)
- Custom actuators requiring moderate speed and torque in a minimal footprint
